Dr. Jeff Holter

Dr. Jeff Holter is a 1985 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine; he also has an undergraduate degree in Zoology (1981) from Miami University in Oxford , Ohio .  After graduation from Ohio State , he spent 7 years in mixed animal practices in northern Indiana and in Shelby , Ohio.

In 1992, Dr. Holter and his wife Carol remodeled an empty storefront in Bucyrus and, in May of that year, opened the Whetstone Animal Hospital , a modern, 2000 square foot veterinary facility.  From the time of its inception the practice has been limited to small (pet) animals.

Dr. Holter’s practice goal is to practice progressive veterinary medicine in a small-town environment, with emphasis on preventative medicine, medical and surgical treatment, and dentistry.  The practice is fortunate to have access to the specialists at both The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and MedVet Columbus for those cases that need intensive, state-of-the-art specialized care.

Dr. Holter is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, the Crawford County Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the Ohio State University Veterinary Alumni Association, and the American Veterinary Dental Society.  His business memberships include the Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce and the Better Business Bureau.  Dr. Holter also served as a board member and Vice President of the Crawford County Humane Society from 1993-2009, and he served two six-year terms on the board of the Bucyrus Area YMCA, holding the offices of Vice President and President.   A firm supporter of higher education, Dr. Holter also holds Lifetime Memberships in the Miami University Alumni Association and the Ohio State University Alumni Association.
